Thanks to New Zealand’s ideal climate and soil conditions, and well-developed forest management techniques, Radiata Pine here is among the highest quality in the world. Not surprising then, that 90% of all New Zealand plantation forests are planted with Pinus Radiate.
New Zealand Radiata Pine is extremely versatile and can be used for both exterior and interior applications. Structurally, it’s use includes; decking, fencing, exterior cladding, window sashes, pergolas, landscaping, shingles, barge boards and exterior trim. While untreated, it can be used for furniture, mouldings, trim and panelling.
It is easily processed and low level treatments, such as boron, can future-proof against insect attack in areas completely protected from moisture.
Radiata Pine is an all-rounder as it’s easily processed, dried and treated, and will take staining and coating. Rigourous testing has also confirmed that Radiata Pine machines well for most applications and compares favourably with a variety of other internationally traded timbers.
The heartwood itself is an even light brown to chestnut brown in colour, while the sapwood is creamy white.
